Question Why do I get "No Items Found" when browsing courses by category?
Answer This usually is a result of having a previously saved query which is preventing the courses from displaying. Click on the Reset Saved Query button and then Search and all of the appropriate courses will be displayed.

Question How do I register for a course in CVU?
Answer Search the CVU course catalog either using words in the course title or browsing by category. The wildcard is the percent sign (%) so it can be used at the beginning of a search string to find all courses with that word in the title. When the course is identified choose the delivery type and click on the Search button under the Action field to display all available classes. Click on the Register link next to the class that suits your needs.

If you get the following message when trying to launch or register for a course "The learner cannot be registered because they are already registered for some other offering for the same Course" then you are already registered for the course and can access it through the Student link at the top of the page.

Question How do I cancel a registration for a course in CVU?
Answer Log onto CVU and click on the Student tab at the top of the page. You will be taken to a My Classes page where all of your registrations will be listed. Click on the Drop link associated with the class that you wish to cancel. You will be asked to verify this drop. Once verified the class will be canceled.

Question Do I need to get permission to attend training?
Answer You do not need permission to take online or download any web-based classes provided through CVU on your personal or CACI owned computer. Check with your supervisor before downloading any training materials to a client's computer system. You will need admin rights to your computer when downloading courseware. These courses are available 24 hours a day and can be taken from home or even your public library. Discuss with your supervisor before you take web-based training during duty hours.

When you register for a class that requires supervisory approval your supervisor is notified of the class and date/time selected. Your supervisor must approve the class and if a fee is required - provide a charge number to be billed. When your supervisor approves you will be registered for the class and will receive an email notification with registration confirmation.

Question How do I take a web-based training course?
Answer Search the CVU course catalog and find the web-based course that you would like to access. Choose the Web-Based Training delivery type and click on the Search button under the Action field. Click on the Launch link to register for the course you want to take. You will be seamlessly logged into the Skillport web-based training course that you desire. Course completions require 80% or better on each lesson test and your transcript will be updated the next day as this requires a nightly upload of status information from Skillport.

If the screen display lists the course name but no items found then there is a pop-up blocker preventing the course from launching. You can bypass pop-up blockers by holding down the control key while clicking on the Launch link. You will need to keep holding the control key until the course itself opens completely.

All of the web-based training courses in CVU require Java Virtual Machine (JVM) to run. If you get the course title page displayed but "Launching Course Please Wait" scrolls across the screen then you need to install JVM from the link on the Welcome port of the CVU Campus page. This requires you to have administrative rights to your computer.

Question How do I let CVU know that I have a training requirement?
Answer If you are an employee/student - you should first search the course catalog to see if the training that you need is already available. If there is a course on the catalog you can search for available classes or go on the course waitlist. If the class that you need is not currently available you and your manager should discuss whether you should take training from an external source. Then enter your requirement through Training Needs on the Welcome port in CVU.

If you are a supervisor - the process is very much the same as for a student. Enter the requirement through Training Needs on the Welcome port in CVU and identify the employee who you want to receive the training. If you are requesting a course that CVU has a web-based training course in the course catalogue you will be asked to take the web-based module first.

If you take the web-based module and still find you need additional training in that same subject matter you will be asked to have your up-line Director send the CVU an email stating why the web-based training does not satisfy the training needed. The CVU will then proceed with finding you an outside source for the training needed.

The CVU will also work with the web-based training vendor to try and provide improved training for the future.

Question What happens once a training requirement is identified in CVU?
Answer If the need is identified by a manager who has indicated that there is funding available then CVU will research, identify, schedule and purchase the course as requested.

If the need is identified by an employee/student then CVU will research and identify the course requested. An email will be sent to the supervisor asking for approval and a charge number for the purchase of the requested course.

Question What about charge numbers to pay for training?
Answer The time that an employee spends conducting training is the responsibility of the employee's home organization unless specifically stated otherwise - in which case a charge number would be supplied as noted in the course description. There are hundreds of free courses available through CVU that do not require a charge number to register. Most CACI internally taught instructor led courses and most e-learning courses do not require a charge number and have open registration.

When you register for a class that requires supervisory approval your supervisor will be notified of the class and date/time selected. Your supervisor must approve the class and provide a charge number to be billed. Once the approval is given you will be registered for the class and receive an email notification with registration confirmation.

Question What is the cancellation policy?
Answer If the course has no fees then you should cancel your registration at the earliest time to make your seat available for someone else that wants the class or is on the waitlist. An email will be sent to your supervisor if you do not show up for a class that you are registered and approved to attend.

If your supervisor approved and provided a charge number for you to attend vendor training then you must cancel at least two weeks prior to the first class meeting or send a substitute.

You should check your confirmation email for vendor specific cancellation policies. If no cancellation is received or substitute sent then your charge number will be charged. An email will be sent to your supervisor if you do not show up for a class that you are registered and approved to attend.

Question How do I get directions to a classroom facility?
Answer When you log on to CVU all of your registered classes will be included on the port entitled My Classes. Click on the course name and then the location name. This will give you the address for the location where the training will be held. Use an Internet map tool (e.g., www.mapquest.com) to get directions and maps. If this is a vendor class then the confirmation email you received will contain information about the address of the training location.
