Arlington, VA, April 21, 2011 - CACI International Inc announced today that the company and TeraThink Corporation have been selected by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to receive the 2011 DHS Mentor-Protégé Team of the Year Award under the DHS Mentor-Protégé Program. The award was presented at the recent 7th Annual DHS Small Business Ceremony held in Washington, D.C
The program honors small businesses that have made an outstanding contribution to the mission of DHS. As mentor, CACI is being honored jointly with its protégé, TeraThink, an American Indian-owned small business. The relationship is a major investment for both companies and was established in 2009 to provide further developmental assistance to an emerging small business.
TeraThink shares CACI's objective of enhancing the way the government operates. It is a leading edge information technology and management consulting firm specializing in solution development, enterprise software implementation, and program/project management. With its proven technologies focused on customer service, the company's solutions complement those of CACI. The CACI-TeraThink combination has resulted in several proposals submitted, two awards, and the potential for extensive future work in DoD and DHS.
Some of the highpoints of CACI's relationship with TeraThink have been assisting the protégé in achieving CMMI Level 3 appraisal and ISO 9000 certification; offering a wide range of training curriculum to management and employees as well as the use of CACI's Vision & Solution Center; helping build business development opportunities; and offering human resource compliance and structuring support.
Since its founding in 1962, CACI has partnered with more than 10,000 small businesses as part of the company's commitment to support the goals of its customers and increase opportunities for all businesses to make their diverse capabilities available to the federal government.
According to CACI VP Nancy Peters, DHS Business Development Executive, "We firmly believe that working with small businesses brings a diversity of capabilities, skill sets, and technologies that serve as a distinct advantage on many contract bids with a wide range of customers. This honor from DHS on our mentoring relationship with TeraThink is a welcome recognition of the success of our small business program."
