CONNECTIONS is a multiple award, fixed price, Indefinite Quantity - Indefinite Delivery (IDIQ) contracting effort. The contract provides a single contract vehicle to order a broad range of telecommunications equipment and services to support communications infrastructure needs nationwide. CONNECTIONS offers flexibility and choice by providing equipment, labor and turnkey solutions to meet a variety of telecommunications infrastructure requirements.
CACI is one of 17 contract awardees under the General Services Administration $35B CONNECTIONS program. CACI is one of six prime contractors to hold all three CONNECTIONS categories
- Equipment and Services
Category 1 includes just about any piece of equipment that could be used to evolve the agency's telecommunications infrastructure. CACI provides thousands of separate Contract Line Items. These provide an extensive catalog of the major telecommunications equipment manufacturers including Avaya, Lucent, Cisco and Nortel, plus over 400 others. Some typical equipment and associated services include multiplexers, video codecs, voice mail systems, channel service units, concentrators, routers, switches, gateways, firewalls, repeaters, virtual private network equipment, site preparation, power systems, alarms, microwave systems, wiring, cabling and cross connects. It is important to note that services in this category are limited to those that would specifically support the equipment, for example, installation and ongoing maintenance.
- Lifecycle Support Services
Category 2 includes many different services in support of the telecommunications infrastructure, offered within three basic areas- The Professional Series includes network engineers, site managers, system integration engineers, LAN/MAN/WAN integrators, quality assurance engineers and other engineering subject matter experts.
- The Technical Series includes network systems managers, operations systems security specialists, communication analysts, database administrators, programmers, configuration management specialists, trainers, cable splicers and network technicians, among others.
- The E-Business Series includes business process engineers, web architects, webmasters and others.
- Custom Services and Solutions
Category 3 includes turnkey solutions that are characterized by integrators and managed services. In this category any portion of a customer requirement, or an entire requirement, can be fully outsourced to CACI. This option is ideal for agencies that do not wish to build and maintain their infrastructure on their own, but would rather have someone else handle the details on their behalf. In this category CACI can handle the entire installation, operation and maintenance of a wireless PBX, a unified messaging system, a backbone cable, a videoconferencing facility or a Voice over IP application. It can include all telecommunications infrastructure requirements in a building or a campus. It can even include customer service support or billing verification functions. There are thousands of possibilities in Category 3.
